GENEVA, Switzerland – World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank held a 2-day ministerial meeting with a call on “all people to get the good quality health services that they need without fear of financial ruin.”
The said meeting on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) began Monday.
There were 27 countries’ Ministers of Finance and Health with other high-level stakeholders, brainstorming on ways to progress towards universal health coverage, to share new innovations and identify movements the global community can support.
The services UHC aims to offer are of good quality and effective, and people must not suffer financial hardship when paying for them.
UHC’s goal is to guarantee all people have easy access to the services that gives promotion of good health, prevention of illness, treatments and rehabilitation.
Nigeria champions the journey for UHC by December 2015 with the National Health Insurance Scheme
(NHIS) led by the executive secretary Dr. Abdulrahaman Sambo.
