A mysterious fireball was seen falling through the sky above Bangkok on Sept. 7, which prompted speculations of an exploding aircraft or a meteorite hitting the Earth.
The incident, which was also seen in other parts of the country, was caught on film as it fell from the sky, leaving bright trails and eventually intensified into a larger ball before it vanished.
The head of the Thai Astronomical Society, Prapee Viraporn, later confirmed that the incident was caused by a small meteor explosion.
Meteors are bright ostentatious lights in the sky that usually occur when small pieces of interplanetary debris or meteoroids burn up as they passe through the Earth’s atmosphere. They commonly burn up completely after entering our atmosphere causing no harm or damages.
