Now, you can actually swear “WTF” without feeling sorry!
In this year’s new batch of words released by Merriam-Webster, internet terms like WTF, meme and emoji are officially considered as dictionary words.
The “net-centric” words are just among the 1, 700 new entries of the Merriam-Webster unabridged dictionary, citing “a growth spurt” in today’s English language.
Other example of internet-generated terms which now made its way into the dictionary include click fraud, photobomb, twerk, NSFW, click bait, and net neutrality.
Last year, Merriam-Webster added hashtag and selfie into its word repository.
