It is a big blow for the De La Salle Lady Spikers after their star player and team captain, Ara Galang, sustained an injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the UAAP Season 77 women’s volleyball tournament.

Galang suffered a serious injury in her left knee in the fourth set of the season’s Final Four game against National University Lady Bulldogs at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.

The 5’9” outside hitter was then rushed to Makati Medical Center.

Reports later revealed that Galang tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) and has also suffered bone bruises.

Her injury was due to an awkward landing following a hit against the Lady Bulldogs.

The star player was putting on a show before the injury, scoring 25 points in the game with six straight points before she tore her left knee.

The injury did not however dampen the spirit of the Lady Spikers as they went on to beat the Lady Bulldogs, 3-1. They will advance into the UAAP Finals for the seventh straight season and will face the defending champion Ateneo Lady Eagles for the fourth consecutive year.
