5:15 p.m. – Rain or Shine vs. Barako Bull
7:30 p.m. – Alaska vs. San Mig Coffee
MANILA, Philippines – After Coach Tim Cone left Alaska almost two years ago for the San Miguel Coffee, his former team will collide with his new one later at 7:30 pm as the hunt for the championship title continues in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Both teams are titleholders and both coaches are considered to be the best of the best in the league. Thus, audience can expect Alaska mentor Luigi Trillo and Coach Cone to solidify their legendary coaching during the match.
After a tough battle against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, the Mixers will be off the starting lines with the Aces minus Marc Pingris who is under a two-game suspension.
Pingris and Joe Devance were both suspended for their participation in the third quarter brawl of the San Mig-Globalport match on Wednesday.
Moreover, Mixers and Aces both strive to improve their playoff standings as the season matches are moving near to its end.
Trillo is backed-up with lots of enthusiasm to humble Coach Tim this time. Trillo, who served Cone as an assistant for almost 13 years, said he is not a helper of Cone anymore.
Meanwhile, the Meralco Bulls will also collide with the defending champion Elasto Painters early this evening.
The Bulls are in quest to uphold their second spot in standings and to grasp their chances of being part of the top four teams in the league.
Meralco Bulls managed to enter the playoffs with a 98-97 decision against Batang Pier last Friday.
Rain or Shine, on the other hand, continues to struggle in the court having 1-3 in their last four games.
