MANILA— The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) cancelled its doubleheader scheduled today at Smart Araneta Coliseum as rain continued to pour down and floods Metro Manila.

PBA Commissioner Chito Salud announced the cancellation of the game early today as the conditions in Manila failed to improve overnight.

“The PBA is cancelling its games today due to floods and continued inclement weather so new date will be announced, please hold on to your tickets,” Salud said.

Meanwhile, Global Port Batang Pier fails to spot its chance to pounce on a sluggish San Miguel Coffee Mixers in the first game at 5:15 p.m.

Moreover, Alaska Aces will have to postpone its debut in the season-ending PBA Governors’ Cup scheduled at 7:30 p.m. against an underhand Talk N’ Text Tropang Texters in the second game.

The said floods have engulfed 60 percent of Metro Manila as of Tuesday afternoon due to non-stop rains forcing other leagues including NCAA, UAAP and Shakey’s V-League to cancel their games earlier this week.
