MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III said he is considering constitutional amendments and the possibility of extending his term for another 6 years.

After being elected on 2010, the present constitution will restrict Aquino to run for another six-year term.

Aquino once insisted that he is against in changing the Philippine Constitution and vowed to “preserve and defend” it but after five years he then reconsiders the idea.

He admits that the Constitution is not perfect and its provisions might be outdated.

“Everything that is man-made is imperfect. There are many provisions in the Constitution that can be fine tuned and updated,” Aquino said on Wednesday in an interview with TV5.

“When I got into this, I remembered it is for one term of six years. Now after having said that, of course I have to listen to my bosses [the Filipinos],” he said.

He then made it clear that he will not automatically run for an additional term.

The president also wants to check the power of the Supreme Court and believes that Charter Change will restrain its immense powers.
