MANILA Philippines- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) fully decided that the end of registration is Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.

“July 31 at 5:00 pm, that is the deadline,” Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said.

Comelec offices nationwide were open during the weekends for the registration. Thus, they have decided that the registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on October will not be extended.

Brillantes added that there is no reason for an extension for the 10-day nationwide registration which started on July 22.

“Bakit namin ie-extend? Ang dami naman nagpapa-register,” Brillantes added

According to Comelec, they are expecting 300,000 to 400,000 registrants for the barangay polls. They are also expecting for about 2 million Filipino youths to register for the SK chairperson election.

Provided by law, the whole registration process must be completed 120 days before the day of election which will be held on the 28th of October.
