Manila – Controversies’ regarding President Aquino’s term extension intensifies by paid advertisement cost around P200,000 published on the Philippine Daily Inquirer on Tuesday.
A paid print advertisement by a group called Movement for Reform, Continuity and Momentum (MORE2COME) is calling for President Aquino to run for 2016 presidential race, saying that they are aiming for eight million signatures to ask him to reconsider his position on the next elections.
“President Benigno Aquino is an honest man! P-Noy must now seek a second term in order to make sure that the country stays on course, on the right road, and headed for continued growth and reform. We must maintain the momentum and continuity!” it declared in the ad.
“The call for him to consider leading the country again lies in the face of corrupt politicians who wish to lead the country, and the barrenness of talent and virtue among the presidentiables,” the group said.
Meanwhile, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr said that the Palace was not behind the ads. “We had nothing to do with them,” Coloma said in a press briefing.
However, the palace is glad assuming it was a good feedback to the administration.
“But we are happy. You should treat it as an expression of how good the administration is doing. Ang sinasabi nila, maganda ang ginagawa ng administrasyon kaya dapat yung papalit sakanya ay itutuloy ang magandang ginagawa ng administrasyon,” Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad said.
