Manila, Philippines – The appearance of whistle blower Benhur Luy surprised everyone in the Sandiganbayan where the bail hearing of Sen. Bong Revilla Jr. took place, Thursday.
In his testimony, Luy said that Revilla received 224 million ‘refunds’ in the pork barrel scam operated by businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles as the mastermind. Luy claimed that he knew everything about the illegitimate transaction because he once worked with Napoles as a record keeper.
He further stated that Revilla’s chief of staff, Richard Cambe, also received a certain amount from the alleged pork barrel scam.
“I was the one who prepared the vouchers for Revilla, whom we codenamed as RBR, and Cambe, who had always requested cash advance of his commissions,” he told the anti-graft court via Manila Standard Today.
To testify his testimony, he presented folders and a hard drive as evidences which contained a summary of all the transaction made by Napoles and Revilla.
However, Joel Bodegon, Revilla’s lawyer, claimed that the evidence and testimony of Luy is just a made up story. The hard drive according to him did not pass the authentication process and could not be used as evidence.
Revilla and Cambe are now facing plunder and graft charges because of their alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.
