Manila, Philippines- Former Ilo-Ilo congresswoman Janette Garin took oath in Malacañang on Monday as the newly-appointed undersecretary of Department of Health.

As one of the authors of the Reproductive Health Law which is the priority measure of the Aquino administration and her political knowledge she can give to the said agency, Garin was appointed by President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

“Her knowledge on both as a medical professional and as a legislator will greatly help the efficiency of the DOH’s programs,” Aquino said.

During the oath taking, there were other newly appointed government officials who joined Garin including Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Winston Ginez who is one of the private prosecutors of the impeachment trial of CJ Renato Corona; Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) Administrator Maximo Mejia Jr. who replaced the acting administrator Nicasio Conti; and Bureau of Corrections Director Franklin Bucayu.
