Davao City, Philippines – The Commission on Election (COMELEC) in Magsaysay, Davao City is set to accommodate a number of voter registrants on Wednesday for the Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan elections in October.

Davaoeños gathered in Magsaysay park to take advantage of the last day of registration. An estimate of more than 2,000 individuals are seeking to register as voters.

One of the would-be registrants said that they are willing to stay all day long to ensure that they will be registered and can exercise their rights to vote on the upcoming election.

Today, Comelec spokesperson James Arthur Jimenez reminds registrants the last day of registration.

“Last day of (voter registration), friends. Let’s do this for the right reasons, okay? Good luck!” Jimenez said.

Meanwhile, reports revealed that the Comelec is not planning to extend the registration period despite of requests from some cities and municipalities.
