MANILA, Philippines – The poll body has a prize on the table for anyone who can break into the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines and manipulate the results it would produce according to Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes statement.

To ensure the people that the PCOS machines are living up to its purpose, Brillantes challenges anyone to get into the system.

Brillantes stated, “I am challenging anyone who can hack into the PCOS machines. Maybe we can give them something [if they are successful].”

The Automated Election System (AES) Watch gave a failing mark concerning its preparations for the May elections. This reportedly triggered such remark from the poll chief.

With 4 being the highest and 0 the lowest, Comelec received a failing grade of 0.29 from the AES Watch.

AES Watch is an umbrella coalition of about 40 organizations composed of information technology (IT) practitioners, academics from various disciplines and other professionals monitoring preparations for the mid-term elections.

Even with the grade given to them by AES Watch, Brillantes said, “The PCOS machines cannot be manipulated.”
