Kuwait – A domestic helper in Kuwait accidentally fell off from the second floor of the building of her employer’s apartment which resulted to Nelsie Rom, the OFW, to suffer fractured left leg, bruises on the face and stitches on the lower lip. She also lost 6 of her teeth because of the fall.
According to Nelsie Rom, last October 17, she went with her lady employer to do some shopping. But her employer left her bag that contained the house keys inside the cab.
She stated in an interview, “Sabi ko may susi doon sa loob ng bahay.
She only regained consciousness inside the ambulance. She said she couldn’t move any part of her body.
The 30-year old Nelsie is a single mother from Alabang. Her work started in Kuwait on July 23, 2009. She also claims that she has not been paid her wages for 2 years now. She’s supposed to receive 50 Kuwaiti dinars or P7,150 every month.
Nelsie asked her employer if she can go home since she already completed her 2 year contract but her employer refused to let her go home to Manila. Every time she tells her employer that she wants to go home, her employer will threaten her to go to the police so that they can detain her.
Nelsie, who has to undergo an operation for her fractured leg and pelvic bone, appealed to the Philippine Embassy for help.
The manpower agency representative that deployed Rom stated that they will give the 2 year wage that has been long overdue.
