SRI LANKA — A 37-years old Filipino sailor was found dead with severe cut injuries in his body aboard a ship at the Colombo Port here Monday.

Sri Lankan police spokesman Buddika Siriwardana said the victim identified as certain Prebin Magalons Boniu was reportedly hacked to death by his shipmates following a dispute.

The six shipmates linked to the killing, which were earlier reported to have fled from the scene, surrendered a day later and now being questioned by the police.

As of this posting, identities of the six suspects had not been known yet. However, the police said investigations is on-going.

The Philippine Embassy in Sri Lanka is now assisting the suspects, who were also Filipinos. They were provided a translator, the report added.

Initial report said, the killing was triggered by heated arguments that resulted to the commotion and killing of the Pinoy sailor aboard the Taiwanese ship.
