UN Tribunal on Tuesday ruled unanimously that China has no legal basis to occupy the sea areas falling within the “nine-dash line” in the disputed West Philippine Sea, reports said.

The ruling favored the Philippines which has been pushing the claim for the past three years.

In its landmark decision, the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague, Netherlands said that China has “no historic rights to resources, in excess of the rights provided for by the Convention.”
