Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced that our Filipino Soldiers in Golan Heights are now safe.
In AFP Official Fanpage, a status was posted about the safety of our AFP personnel:
“Top defense and military officials lauded at around 6 a.m. today, August 31, the successful repositioning of Filipino peacekeepers who figured in a standoff with Syrian rebels in Golan Heights since Thursday, August 28.”
In situation, the 32 Filipino peacekeepers was extracted from position 69 last Saturday, August 29 and the remaining 40 soldiers from position 68 was able to escape after 7 hours of firefight between Filipino troops and Syrian rebels. The troops manage to escape while the Syrian rebels are resting and successfully repositioned to the Philippine Battalion Headquarters at Camp Ziouani.
