TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines- The local government of Tacloban will host on this year’s 2nd National Festival of Talents for over 1,400 high school students and their coaches from 17 regions across the country.
The skills exhibition program conceptualized by Department of Education is scheduled on April 6 to 10.
Participants will compete on the following:Quiz Bee, Oration, Characters on Parade, Best booth, cultural presentation, 2-minute movie/TV trailer, on-the-spot poster making, essay writing, jingle writing, singing, contemporary street dance, OPM song writing, on-the-spot painting, script writing, shadow puppetry, short films, TV broadcasting and technolympics.
Also they will showcase skills on industrial arts, home economics, agri-fishery arts and ICT.
In his congratulatory message for the program, Tacloban mayor Alfred Romualdez said the festival and competition “will surely prove what our young people know and can do-that our youths are multi- talented.”
“They are capable of doing great things and that with perseverance and creativity, there is no limit to what our students can achieve,” Mayor Romualdez said.
Cong. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, of Leyte 1st district, also conveyed congratulations to the organizers for coming up with the said skills exhibition program and for choosing Tacloban in Leyte as its host.
DepEd regional director Luisa Bautista-Yu wished all the delegates for a successful event.
This year’s National Festival of Talents theme is : Showcasing a Tapestry of Talents for Responsible Stewardship.
Keynote speaker is DepEd Undersecretary for Legal and Legislative Affairs Alberto Muyot, representing DepEd Secretary Bro. Armin A. Luistro.
