TACLOBAN CITY-Police and narcotics operatives have caught a village councilor from Mindanao who travelled to storm-weary Leyte to sell drugs.

The suspect was identified as 43-year old Abdulcader M. Panantaon, married, village councilor and resident of Brgy. Dalama, Mulondo, Lanao Del Sur.

According to IAV Mark P. Damaso, Officer-in-Charge of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Eastern Visayas, Panantaon was caught in a joint buy-bust operation at Borderline Cottages, Maharlika Highway, Brgy. Pawing, Palo in Leyte on June 11.

Panantaon was caught selling suspected shabu and found in his possession and control were four big pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.

The suspected shabu weighing MOL 300 grams has an estimated market value of P2.4 million.

The drug suspect is now temporarily detained at PDEA regional office facility and will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165.
