CEBU, Philippines – A Cebu Coast Guard official reported zero deaths as a passenger vessel bound for Palompon, Leyte was found stranded ashore Bogo City, Cebu after leaving the port past noon Tuesday.

According to PO1 Romulo Bacalso of the Bogo Coast Guard detachment, the MV Super Shuttle Ferry 10 shortly ran ashore Bogo due to an engine breakdown around 1:30 p.m., just 20 meters away from Polambato Wharf.

Meanwhile, all of its 18 crew members and 63 passengers stayed safe and were rescued back to the shore through motor bancas.

Elizar Macuto, captain of the ferry, told local Coast Guard authorities that they had an engine breakdown at the said area. They dropped anchor and decided to fix the engine before proceeding to their destination, but heavy waves and southwest monsoon winds pushed the vessel towards the shallow area of the port.
