MANILA, Philippines- Tropical depression “Jolina” or “Jebi” in its international name has now intensified into a storm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday.

In its advisory, “Jolina” was estimated to be moving at 450 km west of Subic, Zambales with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center while gusting 80 kph.

Moreover, Jolina is said to move 660 km west of Subic on Thursday morning and is expected to exit the Philippine Area Responsibilty (PAR).

However, according to the 9 a.m. update of the Japan Meteorological Agency, Jolina may head for China.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said that Jolina is expected to move 11 kph northwest.

The said storm will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms of 5 to 15 millimeters per hour over MIMAROPA (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon).

PAGASA is further tracking a low-pressure area at 210 km east of Virac, Catanduanes. It may be called “Kiko” if it will intensify into anew tropical depression.

Moreover, the weather bureau advised residents in the said areas to take all the essential precautionary measures especially on landslide and flash flood-prone areas.
