MANILA, PHILIPPINES – At the age of 83, former Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales died on Sunday evening, September 7 at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).
He died at the said institute around 10: 45 P.M owing to multiple failure organs. He has been confined at NKTI since Friday.
Gonzales served as a justice Secretary during the time of presidency of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and he also served as the representative of Iloilo City from 1995 to 2004.
He was also on prosecution team during the impeachment trial of the former president Joseph Estrada.
He leaves behind his wife, Dra. Pacita Gonzales, three sons and two daughters.
“He was a responsible husband and father, an indulgent grandfather, a loyal friend and a courageous public servant,” his family said.
