TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines-A private chopper reportedly owned by Northern Samar 2nd District  Congressman Emil Ong made an emergency landing on the shoreline of  Barangay Rawis, Laoang, Northern Samar Tuesday morning.

According to Erlinda Olivia Tiu, regional director of the Philippine Information Agency,  the incident occurred at about 9:30 a.m.

Aboard the chopper were San Roque Mayor Andre Abalon, Decoroso Asinas, and Efipanio  Pinca, all candidates for board members.

Mayor Abalon is completing his third term as mayor of San Roque town. He is now running for Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the 2nd district of Northern Samar  with partymates Pinca and Asinas under National Unity Party.

Piloting the chopper was Capt. Dino Garcia.

According to the reports received by PIA, the chopper just took off when pilot noticed an engine trouble and returned.

However the chopper did not made it to the runway at the property of Cong. Ong. Instead it landed on the shoreline at the said barangay.

“Except for Mayor Andre Abalon who sustained severe head injuries, the pilot and the two other passengers only had minor injuries,” said Dir. Tiu in a report.

They were rushed to the Catarman Doctors Hospital, Tiu said quoting a report from Philippine National Police Region 8 Media Relations Officer Inspector Romuel Nacar.

Meanwhile it was learned that Mayor Abalon was transported to a hospital in Cebu city for further medical attention.
