MANILA, Philippines- Despite the earlier statement from boxing champ Manny Pacquiao that he is being “harassed” by the administration, Pres. Benigno Aquino on Tuesday maintained they will investigate the former’s income tax.

Asked if Pacquiao will be given “amnesty” if he  is proven to have evaded from paying his taxes, Aquino answered, saying: “Amnesty is, by proposal by me, has to normally indicate parang a class of individuals, parang a group. It doesn’t refer normally to an individual and also Congress has to approve.”

“I think the lesson has to be that if you are guilty of a particular crime, then the degree—you have to exhibit a degree of remorse. But, at this point in time, he says that he has complied with all the requirements. So I think this is crossing the bridge that is too far away yet,” Aquino added.

The boxing champ  is facing tax evasion case allegedly due to his misdeclaration of income in 2008 and 2009.
