MANILA, Philippines-Amid calls for his resignation, Pres. Benigno Aquino has remained in control.
“The President is determined to complete his term and fulfill the people’s mandate. He is grateful to the Filipino people for their continued trust and confidence in his leadership,” Herminio B. Coloma Jr., Presidential Communications Operations Office head, told reporters.
Coloma’s reply came in response to retired Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz media statement saying, “If Aquino resigns, the country will have a better and brighter 2014.”
Cruz, in a news report, also called Aquino “the biggest problem of 2013” and his administration “a big joke.”
The Communist Party of the Philippines during its 45th year anniversary on Thursday also made a call for Aquino resignation.
