DAVAO, Philippines- The alleged most-wanted New People’s army (NPA) leader was arrested Sunday at the Old Bus Terminal, Barangay Zone III of the city.
The suspected guerilla leader, identified as Maria Loida Magpatoc, 52, of Brgy. Bitan-Agan, Butuan City, was arrested by a joint military-police operation of the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office and 1002nd Infantry Brigade.
In a statement from the military, Magpatoc’s location was tracked through a concerned citizen’s report that the presence of the most wanted personality is within the vicinity.
The military further cited Magpatoc as the Secretary of the NPA’s Far South Mindanao Regional Committee.
Magpatoc was listed as PNP’s Most Wanted Person in 2009 for charges of robbery, double homicide and damage of properties with a monetary reward of P 5.6 million for her captivity. Her warrant of arrest was issued in 2004.
Magpatoc is temporarily detained at Digos Police Station, a city police station on the southern part of Davao.
