AN EXPERIENCE of a lifetime – the downstream and upstream ride in a motorized boat with no outrigger at Ulot River, the longest river in Samar island, with expert maneuvering skills of a boatman and pointman/tour guide.
It is part of the Tandaya Trail in its Samar Summer Fun Campaign launched by the Provincial government of Samar in cooperation with the Department of Tourism Region 8 office.
The campaign aspires to spark desire for Samar as a new eco-tourism and investment destination in the Philippines, not to be taken forever as a conflict area nor people mired in poverty, but for a people united to soar to new heights.

The Ulot Torpedo Boat Adventure Ride jump-off point is at Sitio Campo Uno, Tenani Paranas, Samar and the ride ends at Denit Point for a refreshing swim and picnic.
You will marvel at Dinet Point with its tranquil scenic jungle spot, unique-formed boulders surrounded by forest in both sides of the river, with waterfalls, the swirling rapids, clear turquoise green water, mini-waterfalls, with amazing flora and fauna.
The Torpedo Boat package costs PhP1,800 (maximum of 5 tourists per boat), inclusive of the SINP entrance fee, boat rental, tour guiding fee, safety gear rental and community development fee for Tenani and Tula.
The Ulot watershed is part of the 455,700-hectare Samar Island Natural Park (SINP) the largest land based national park in the country- it covers the three Samar provinces. BY VICKY ARNAIZ
