Senator Bong Revilla, father of Jolo Revilla, asked the Sandiganbayan to permit him to visit his son who is currently in the hospital recuperating from a self-inflicted wound in the chest last Saturday.
The senator’s lawyers said in an urgent motion that Revilla only wants to make sure that his son is in a stable condition.
“Revilla, himself shocked about this very unfortunate incident, feels helpless and distraught about this serious threat to the life of his son, Jolo,” said the motion. “Revilla-as any father would feel-bears that it is his obligation to visit his son to ensure that he is already safe and in a stable medical condition and to spend a few minutes with him to provide support and assurance in this life-threatening situation.
Rumors have been spreading that Jolo attempted suicide on February 28, but the family’s lawyer and spokesperson Raymund Fortun said that it was only an accident.
Jolo is currently at the ICU of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center.
Revilla meanwhile is detained for plunder charges over the pork barrel scam involving Janet Lim-Napoles. Fellow senators have likewise provided support to his plea, including JV Ejercito, Sonny Trillanes, and Chiz Escudero.
