Manila – After being silent amid all the controversies Philippine National Police Chief Director Alan Purisima is expected to appear at the senate hearing to finally answer allegations against him on September 30, 2014.
Purisima is facing criminal charges including plunder, graft and indirect bribery in which 2 was filed while he was away for an anti-kidnapping and extortion conference in Colombia.
The chief director has been very controversial because of alleged ill-gotten wealth more so that some media reports on his State of Assets and Liabilities Networth was exposed.
Purisima will face probing before the senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs chaired by Senator Grace Poe, who irked over Purisima for not showing up at the hearing on PNP Modernization Bill on September 16.
On the other hand, Department of Internal and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas advised the PNP Chief Director to step down and take an early retirement.
The President Noynoy Aquino also faced controversies for defending the chief director and his tie with Purisima, giving worries to some that their close ties might affect the case against the PNP Chief Director, but the Malacanang assured the public that they will keep their hands off the case.
Alan Purisima was a part of the presidential security when president Aquino was still in his youth while his mother Cory Aquino was the president of the Philippines.
