Marawi City- The leaders of the Maute Group Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute were killed past midnight on Monday (October 16, 2017).
It was confirmed by other sources that both of them were killed during a firefight by selected members of the Army’s Scout Ranger Regiment and several special forces.
A photo of bloodied Isnilon Hapilon have been circulating in the social media where he is wearing a black jacket, a color that represents ISIS.
The bodies of the leaders including the other members of Maute Group that were also killed are currently undergoing DNA tests.
Hapilon is said to be the Emir of ISIS, the international terror group here in Southeast Asia.
The Marawi Siege started on May 23, 2017 and which we are still battling until now.
According to our government, the clashes have already killed 813 rebels, 47 civilians and 162 military.
