Makati, Philippines – Makati City police on Thursday made tense security at Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) in preparation for Janet Lim-Napoles’ appearance, the brain behind the P10-billion pork barrel scam.
Napoles surrender on Wednesday around 9pm to President Benigno Aquino III in Malacanang after the president announced a P10-million reward for her arrest.
Meanwhile, DILG Secretary Mar Roxas lamented that the reward for Napoles is already terminated “but the P5 million reward for the capture of Napoles’ brother, Reynald Lim, stays.”
Makati RTC and city police Chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban Jr. said they will provide support teams and escorts for the convoy that will take Napoles to Camp Crame.
Lukban also assured the safety of Napoles.
On the other hand, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) wondered if the Aquino administration could beat an arrangement with Napoles not to involve some of its allies in Congress in connection with the PDAF scam.
“Is it a deal or no deal? The people want to know the terms of surrender were for Janet Napoles. How will the deal affect the PDAF scam and the cases that will be filed? It’s hard not to see the carefully orchestrated dramatic surrender to Aquino and then turn over to Roxas and then PNP as something of a script,” Bayan Secretary General Renato Reyes, Jr. said.
Furthermore, Kabataan Party-list Representative Terry Ridon said that the surrender of Napoles was such a well-written Palace script.
