CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines – Are you looking for a job that’s a bit different from any other careers? Read and find your role in the wider government security forces.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), an attached agency of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) primarily tasked with enforcing laws within Philippine waters is now hiring additional workforce personnel.

In an announcement posted by various PCG districts, it said the agency is looking for any Filipino tough men and women especially those with backgrounds in any maritime and related courses.

Catbalogan-based PCG acting station commander Lowie Palines said regional examinations were scheduled in the following areas: Coast Guard District Central Visayas (CGDCV) June 29, Cebu City, Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV) June 29, Iloilo City, Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas (CGDEV) June 29, Tacloban City.

For the pre-entry examinations and initial screening, applicants must have at least 72 units in college or two-year TESDA training relevant to shipboard assignment; 18-24 years old; 5 ’4” male and 5’ 2” for female; single; and physically and mentally fit for training.

Interested applicants may contact any PCG for initial screening bring with them  their diploma, transcript of records, NSO birth certificate, Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR), and 2×2 pictures.

“Graduates of maritime courses are highly preferred,” Palines said.

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8) also started accepting application folders for the calendar year 2013 police recruitment program.

Police Inspector Romuel Nacar said PNP-8 director C/Supt. Elmer Soria ordered the PRO8 Police Officer I (POI) Regional Screening Committee to strictly abide by the PNP Circular 2005-008 on the Rationalization and Qualification Standards for Initial Appointment in the PNP Uniformed Service which provides a system of measuring the qualifications of individual applicants.

Interested applicants, he said, must have appropriate eligibilities for PO1 which are National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) PNP Entrance; Licensed Criminologist under RA 6506; Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) bar or board passers under RA 1080; Honor Graduates under PD 907 or the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Career Service Professional Examination.

The police official said the applicants “must be clean” and no bad records from any government office nor has no pending case in court.

“They must also pass the standard height requirement,” Nacar said adding that it is open to all Filipino men and women aged 21 to 30 and graduate of any 4-year course.

Applicants who will be accepted will augment the current 6,191 uniformed police personnel in active duty status complemented by 134 non-uniformed personnel in the regional office and field units.
