Manila, Philippines ─ Joint operatives from the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group and the local police seized alleged shabu and firearms after the raid conducted at Puerto Princesa Vice Mayor Luis Marcaida III house leading to his arrest Monday, September 04, 2017.
The operatives conducted the raid at Marcaida’s home in Jacaba Road, Barangay Bancao-Bancao, at around 6 am Monday.
According to the initial police report, the raid was conducted based on a search warrant issued by Judge Reynaldo Alhambra of the Manila Regional Trial Court.
The authorities have recovered 30 sachets of suspected shabu wrapped in a plastic pack, 4 .45 calibre pistols, one .22 calibre rifle, 3 rifle grenades, and a fragmentation grenade.
On the continuing campaign of the administration against illegal drugs, Marcaida has been previously identified by the PNP as a “high-value target”. He was allegedly involved in some illegal drug activities in his province.
The said raid was led by Police Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares, supported by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group (DEG), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Special Enforcement Service (SES), and Palawan police.
Police further reported that their operation at Marcaida’s home is still on-going for further verifications.
