LAS VEGAS- October 1, 2017 (Sunday night) a mass shooting happened in Route 91 Harvest Festival, a three-day country music event near Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
Singer Jason Aldean’s was performing when suddenly continuous gun shots were heard and people were already screaming “get down.” There was already a stampede because people were trying to get out the place. Other victims were already down bleeding.
The police found the gunman dead in his hotel room in the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. He was identified as Stephen Paddock, a 64- year-old man.
Police are still searching for his live-in girlfriend who was identified as Marilou Danley, 62 years old and was said to be a Filipina. Police confirms that she is in not a suspect because she is currently out of the country but they are trying to contact her to be able to interview her.
The police said that at least 23 firearms were found including a handgun in the hotel room of the suspect. Some were rifles equipped with scopes, he said, adding that Mr. Paddock used multiple rifles during the attack.
Las Vegas city hall said it was a “very sad night for Las Vegas” and warned members of the public to stay away from the south end of the Vegas strip, where the Mandalay Bay is located. The music festival has been held for the past four years on a 15-acre lot across the strip from the hotel and casino.
