After 14 years of rock n’ roll and hit music, OPM iconic band Kamikazee will disband after 2015, the group announced on Sunday.
The band publicized the break-up through a video message posted on their official Facebook account.
In a 1:03 clip, lead vocalist Jay Contreras said that the members aim to explore their future outside the group, calling a need for them to separate ways after a successful run as a band.
“Nagdesisyon po kaming lima na ngayong 2015 ang huling taon na magkakasama tayo dahil gusto namin masubukan ang buhay-buhay sa labas ng banda, ‘yung mga trip na puwede pa namin gawing iba,” Contreras said.
(We decided that 2015 will be the last year that we will be together as we want to try and do things outside the band)
The band further said that they are happy with their decision and informed the public beforehand that there is no internal rift between the members.
“Wala po kaming away sa loob ng banda. Masaya kami sa naging desisyon namin,” Drummer Allan “Bords” Burdeos said.
Kamikazee thanked their fans and asked them to continue loving original Filipino music.
The band, formed during the early 2000s, is composed of Jay Contreras, Led Tuyay, Jomal Linao, Puto Astete and Bords Burdeos.
In their 14-year run, they produced four studio albums and released hits including “Narda,” “Chiksilog,” “Martyr Nyebera,” “Huling Sayaw” and “Wala.”
