A flight attendant of the ill-fated AirAsia plane that crashed into the Java Sea left a heartfelt message to her boyfriend through social media weeks before the incident.
Khairunnisa Haidar Fauz, 22, posted a love note with words “I love you from 38,000 feet” two weeks before her body was pulled from the sea. It was a hand-written note on a napkin placed on a plane cabin window.
The message was believed to be addressed to her boyfriend, Divo, 22, who was mentioned in her several Instagram posts. However, it is uncertain what flight direction the photo was taken on.
The young flight attendant’s body was among the first to be recovered. Nasi, as her friends fondly called her, was easily identified because her name tag was still pinned on her uniform when she was found, local media reported.
Haidar Fauzi, Nasi’s father, said that they last saw her six weeks before the crash happened. He described her daughter as “beautiful and smart.”
“We only borrowed our daughter from God and now he has taken her back,” Mr. Fauzi said while adding that their family is taking things easy though they are very saddened by the death of his daughter.
The family plans to bury her in their home town in Palembang.
AirAsia Flight QZ8501, an Airbus A320-200, disappeared off the radar at 6.19am on December 28, 2014 — just 40 minutes into the journey from Surabaya to Singapore. There were 162 people on board, including 155 passengers and seven crew members.
