While a Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight isn’t possible yet at this point, that didn’t stop Money May to took another shot at the eight-division world champion. This time, Mayweather turned to Twittersphere to ripped the Filipino boxing pride while greeting everyone a Merry Christmas.
As of this posting, the not-so-subtle-taunt on Pacquiao by Mayweather has received over 20,000 re-tweets, more than 8,000 favorites and various reactions from netizens. Some fans believed that Money May is just making excuses to avoid a fight with Pacman.
Though Mayweather has repeatedly indulged in the past that a super-fight with Pacman is possible, it is probably not going to happen as he recently dismissed the idea after the Filipino congressman has been named his mandatory challenger. This was following the victory of Pacquiao over Brandon Rios.
“Everybody’s talking about the title he’s (Pacquiao’s) the mandatory. He can have the belt! A belt don’t make me,” Mayweather said in an interview with FightHype.
“Here’s the Manny Pacquiao story. Manny Pacquiao was at welterweight. He lost to Timothy Bradley, no matter how you cut it, how you slice it, he lost to Timothy Bradley. He got knocked out by Marquez. He came back and went the distance with a lightweight. And now all of a sudden, he’s the mandatory for my title. I’ve been champion since 1998 to right now. I’m not 1 and 2 in my last three fights. I’m 48 and 0. But like I said before, put him in front of me, I’ll beat him,” he added.
Other than this, the two champs haven’t been able to agree on the cut off date of random drug-testing and the money split making the much-awaited fight in boxing history nearly impossible.
