Prostitution is soaring as high as 30,000 feet up in the air.

Several media outlets recently reported that flight attendants are allegedly having sex with pilots to combat slumping salaries.

Shukan Post has quoted unnamed flight attendants claiming that some Air hostesses in Japan are regularly paid between $450 and $680 for 90 minutes of “alone time” with pilots.

Stewardesses under 30 are believed to command more money for their “service.”

‘Stewardesses who are willing to do it with a pilot pass their number to a senior stewardess who is effectively a female pimp,” a female cabin crew told the publication. “There is also a system where the pilots use hand signals to tell the hostesses they are interested, and how much they will pay.

“Other stewardesses outsource their services through companies, some of which specialize in offering air hostesses,” she added.

Moreover, another female cabin crew revealed that flight attendants also work part-time as party companions or bar hostesses in Tokyo’s ritzy Ginza district for extra income.

A 30-year-old attendant told the same publication that the “prostitution circle” had begun several years before she joined an airline in 2007. She further claimed that the operation still continue even if the upper management terminated the ringleader.

“But since the girls in the circle at the time are still employed at the company, I’m sure it still goes on even now,” she said.

Decreasing wages of flight attendants is believed to be the cause of the alleged prostitution. In 2004, the average salary of a flight attendant was $42,000. However, it fell to just $32,000 in 2013.
