Popular social media sites Facebook and Instagram went down for nearly an hour on Tuesday afternoon (Manila time).
As of press time, Facebook is already back and running.
During the outage, Facebook users only got the message: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”
While it isn’t confirm yet why the social networking sites were down, several media outlets reported that Lizard Squad, a group of hackers, is allegedly behind the outage. They recently attacked the website of Malaysia Airlines and took down online gaming services PlayStation Network and Xbox Live last Christmas.
