Move over, iPhone.

The world’s cheapest smart phone is about to be unleashed, and it’s just a whopping Php 190!

Named “Freedom 251” boasts a quadcore processor, a 4-inch display, 1GB RAM, and a 3.5 MP rear camera. Sure, its features are just that of the typical smart phone, but its selling price is definitely a game changer in the mobile phone industry. Bigger companies have released phone models of similar features, but not at a price this low.

What makes Freedom 251 a standout is not only its core features, but also its storage capacities. It comes with 8GB of internal storage alone, and it can be expanded by up to another 32GB via microSD. And yes, it is made to run on Android Lollipop 5.1, and comes with several apps. These include Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, and Google Play.

But there’s a big catch: Freedom 251 will be made available only in India (as of the moment).

To be launched sometime this year, Freedom 251 is manufactured by Ringing Bells, a relatively new smart phone maker in India. Founded in 2015, the company has already released four smart phone models, which are all budget-friendly. It has a 4G phone that costs only $44 or roughly Php2,000.

Ringing Bells is supported by the Indian government, and is one of the leaders in local manufacturing in the said country, and it claims that this is one of the reasons it was able to come up with smart phones at low prices.

The Freedom 251 will come with one-year warranty and can be serviced at over 650 centers across India.
