Manila Philippines – Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano and Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay settled yesterday the issue regarding the Fort Bonifacio especially the Bonifacio Global City (BGC), after the tension in the area grew over the last few weeks due to their respective claims.

Binay personally visited Cayetano to discuss the issues on the peace and order situation in Fort Bonifacio and BGC.

“At the outset, our statements will always be that the issue is nothing personal between Mayor Lani’s family and our family. Issues have been raised in the courts and due to Court of Appeals decision, both parties acted accordingly. But I am here today exactly because we want to avert any further violence,” Binay said during a press briefing after his dialogue with Cayetano.

The two mayors agreed that resorting to a world war is not the answer for their problem on the issue on territorial claims.

Furthermore, Binay lamented that they have agreed to allow the court to decide the legal fate of the BGC and Fort Bonifacio.

Moreover, the two city governments will refrain from issuing statements of whether which police has jurisdiction over the BGC.

Meanwhile, both families of Cayetano and Binay remain good friends.
