Today marks another important gathering of local legislators in Leyte.
The Local Legislator’s League on Population, Health, Environment and Development (3LPHED) gathered the local officials, including Vice Mayors, town councilors and ABC Presidents, of the Province of Leyte for a Provincial Chapter Assembly at the Legislative Building, Capitol Grounds.
The said assembly aimed “to consolidate member local legislators in the province to have a sharing of knowledge, information and exchange of views among members on population, health, and environment issues” while at the same time empowering them to be advocates of such.
Together with its members, the organization aims “to champion, articulate, and concretize appropriate and sustainable responses to issues affecting Philippine society.”
“We commit to contribute for the attainment of a just and humane society where basic needs are addressed and citizens embrace positive change by actively advocating socially responsible legislations on population, health, environment and development for an improved quality of life for all,” Leyte Vice Governor Carlo P. Loreto, National President for 3LPHED, shared the vision of the organization.
The highlight of the event was the election of the new set of officers for 3LPHED – Leyte Chapter who took their oath before Loreto. Nicomedes C. Alde, ABC President of Babatngon, was proclaimed president. Here’s the full list of officers:

Loreto said that 3PLHED – Leyte Chapter will come together to develop ideas and materialize movements to address concerns on population, health, and environment in the province.
At the moment, 3LPHED members are present in 17 provinces with a roster of 200 members and 10 provincial chapters formed. It is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission since 2007.
3LPHED is an issue-based and people-centered organization of local legislators that seeks to raise population, health, environment, education and other basic social issues as priorities of local governments.
