MANILA– A magnitude 6.0 earthquake hit Palimbang municipality of Sultan Kudarat province in southern Philippines on Sunday evening, and so far reports of casualties have been received.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit sea area at 19:03 local time with a depth of 556 km.
There was no damages so far, but aftershocks are possible, the agency said.
The Philippines sits in the so called “Pacific Ring of Fire,” an area where continental plates collide, producing frequent earthquakes and volcanic activities. (PNA/Xinhua)
