Cebu City is gearing up for the 2nd #PiliPinas2016 Presidential Debates on Sunday, but Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago will not be joining the activity.
Santiago opted to bow out of the debates in order to receive a clinical trial for a cancer treatment.
According to TV5, this debate’s host network, they have decided to remove Santiago’s podium, but the 15 slots intended for her supporters will remain inside the hall, as per her request.
Prior to the show, a 30-minute prelude will be aired on the network. The debate will be held for 3 hours, from 5-8pm. TV5 also assured the public that it will air lesser commercials, although a 15-minute intermission be held once the debate hits the 70-80 minute mark.
For this round, the debate will be held in a panel format, but the candidates may also throw questions to each other.
The debate will also accommodate a smaller audience, which includes sectoral representatives, supporters of the candidates, members from local media, and officials of the KBP or Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
The debate will be held at the Performing Arts Hall of UP Cebu.
