TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines-In line of this year’s Sangyaw cultural events, about 200 students joined the Jess De Paz Sangyaw Dance Recital held at the Balyuan Amphitheater on the evening of June 22 with the theme “A Star is Born.”

Children (Levels 1-A, 1-B and 2), Teens, the Leyte Dance Theater Members and Scholars showcased various dance movements starting with Hip-hop, Jazz, Polynesian and Ballet.

The Summer Dance Workshop commenced last April 15 and ended on June 22.

Dance Guru- Mr. Jess de Paz trained the students not only on perfecting their dance steps and facial expressions but also with their confidence and self-discipline on the dance floor.

De Paz expressed his gratitude to the City Government of Tacloban thru Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez, Committee on Tourism Chairman and City Councilor Cristina G. Romualdez and to the Sangyaw Foundation for their participation during Sangyaw 2013 cultural activities.

He also thanked the parents for entrusting their children to the Leyte Dance Theater.

This year’s teachers are the following: children’s ballet- Vilma de Paz Natividad; Jazz- Neil Rex Castil; Hip-hop- Robert Gerellana and Polynesian- Bonnete Isagan.

The show was hosted by Kevin Espiritu, also a former Leyte Dance Theater member.

The audience particularly the parents  were amazed by the wonderful and mind-blowing performances of each class level.

On December this year , Jess de Paz will hold another dance recital with a theme “Adam and Eve, the Creation.” (PR)
