An American multinational corporation Nike has declared Thursday it is dropping Oscar Pistorius.

Pistorius is an Olympic and Paralympic sprinter nicknamed “Blade Runner”.

He is the first double amputee sprinter to compete in the Olympics.

According to Nike, “Nike has suspended its contract with Oscar Pistorius. We believe Oscar Pistorius should be afforded due process and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.”

The “Blade Runner” waits to hear whether bail will be granted to him in the third day of a hearing in Pretoria, South Africa.

Pistorius 26, admits he shot girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp 29 accidentally 4 times, mistaking her for an intruder.

On Valentine’s Day, a feature on the Nike ad with Pistorius saying, “I am the bullet in the chamber,” was removed from his personal site.

A California-based company, Oakley also announced the suspension of Pistorius’ contract with them.

Pistorius is famous globally for his success on the track and fight to compete against able-bodied athletes.

He took home the gold and bronze medals and setting a world record in the 200 meters in his first Paralympic Games in Athens 2004.

The Paralympic sprinter qualified for London Olympics in the 400 meters and 4×400 relay last summer.
