A lot of directors grow a beard the whole time they make a motion picture, some for superstitious reasons, and some just cause.
Ben Affleck finally shaved off his lucky beard after the Oscars 2013.

His film ‘Argo’ won Best Picture Oscars at the Academy Awards on Sunday. He celebrates its victory by shaving off his beard just hours before accepting his award.

Rumored to be his good luck charm for awards season, Affleck shaved his beard in the hallway of Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood because “his family was tired of the beard,” according to TMZ.

”He did it to mark the end of a chapter. It had that ceremonial quality to it,” a source told E! News.

The filmmaker admitted previously that his wife actress Jennifer Garner and their children – daughters Violet 7, Seraphina 4, and 11-month-old son Samuel, got tired with the beard he grew for his role in the political thriller.

He praised his wife during his acceptance speech and walked arm-in-arm with her in the red carpet when they came.

Co-producers of the film along with Affleck were actor George Clooney and Grant Heslov, received a thundering applause with a standing ovation to match as they took the stage to collect the night’s biggest award.

The award was presented by no less than the US First Lady Michelle Obama live via satellite from the White House in Washington D.C.
