MANILA, Philippines- The country’s most eligible bachelor is finally enjoying the presidency.
President Benigno S. Aquino III admits that halfway through his six-year term, he is now enjoying being the Chief Executive, contrary to the last three years of his term.
It was no secret that Aquino was reluctant in the May 2010 presidential candidacy, pushed by the public’s cry, following the death of his mother, democracy icon and former President Corazon Aquino.
“All jokes aside, this is a role I have come to enjoy,” Aquino said in the inauguration of Brother Industries Philippines Inc. in Tanauan, Batangas.
This is contrary to what he had been griping since he took over Malacañan in the year 2010 that he has a 24/7 job with no overtime pay, no entitled leaves of absence, compared his Php 95,000 gross monthly salary to a chief executive officer or chief operating officer in a multinational company that earns hundreds of thousands of pesos, and complained about his privacy since all the girls he dated always ended up in the front pages.
Aside from being the “salesman-in-chief”, Aquino is tasked to endorse the Philippines to foreign investors and tourists and be a head inaugurator, ground-breaker, ribbon-cutter and disaster relief worker.
But the aside from these unofficial titles, Aquino is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the chairman of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) board.
