Cebu, Philippines-The resorts in Mactan are worried about the effect on the economy of the collision of ships in Talisay, Cebu City and pleaded for a faster investigation.
“Cebu is the transshipment area for goods coming from Manila and Mindanao because of the accident there will be a shortage of cargo ships during the investigation,” Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Philip Tan said.
“This would result in a shortage of ships and shortage of supply,” Tan told reporters yesterday after attending the launch of a coffee table book of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) at the Cebu Grand Hotel.
Tan also said that the oil spill should be controlled as soon as possible because it will have unhelpful effects on the city’s tourism
He was referring to the beach resorts that may have already been affected by the said oil spill.
Meanwhile, the spill had already spread from Lauis Ledge in Talisay City to Punta Engaño in Lapu-Lapu City.
