Jhonil Bajado graduated BASS Political Science from the University of the Philippines in Tacloban. For some time, he was connected to the Office of the Governor in Eastern Samar and was the former Librarian of St. John the Evangelist School of Theology in Palo, Leyte. He was the Cultural Editor of the now-defunct Gahum Weekly, a newspaper published in Tacloban City.

A multi-awarded writer, he had received the Chito S. Roňo Literary Award (twice), Eduardo Makabenta Sr. Memorial Literary Award (twice), Dr. Jimmy Balacuit Sr. Memorial Literary Award and a Gold Medal from Dr. Leoncio P. Deriada for his poetry.

He had received writing fellowships from different institutions like the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., University of San Carlos, and Northwest Samar State University.

His writings has been published in Celebrations, Places and Spaces edited by Dr. C. Godinez-Ortega, 8 Magazine, Gahum Weekly, Siyahan nga Hiwat, among others. While finishing his master’s degree in Social Sciences, he also travels on his free time. He had visited numerous tourist spots in the country from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. He had also been to Guatemala, Mexico, Brazil and South Korea.
